Montenegro is a sovereign state in South-eastern Europe. It has a coast on the Adriatic Sea to the south-west and is bordered by Croatia to the west, Bosnia and Herzegovina to the northwest, Serbia to the northeast, Kosovo to the east, and Albania to the south-east.

Montenegro has both a picturesque coast and a mountainous northern region. National Geographic Traveler (edited once in decade) features Montenegro among the “50 Places of a Lifetime”, and Montenegrin seaside Sveti Stefan was used as the cover for the magazine.

Podgorica

Podgorica is the capital and largest city of Montenegro. Further cultural and historic monuments in and around Podgorica are Sahat-kula Adzi-pasa Osmanagica, the ruins of Nemanjica Grad, remnants of the city of Doclea, Stara Varos, and Vezirov. The most interesting part of Podgorica is National Park Skardarsko or Skadar Lake, the biggest lake in the Balkan area, with an amazing number of birds and plants (some of them are very rare).

While in Podgorica, one can enjoy the diversity of Montenegro’s capital cafes and restaurants, check out the nightlife, or take a walk at some of the favourite picnic locations of Podgorica citizens – Mareza or Gorica hill. While strolling through Podgorica centre, you might find the shopping area interesting, as there is vast number of boutiques.

Kotor

Kotor is a coastal town in Montenegro. The old Mediterranean port of Kotor is surrounded by fortifications built during the Venetian period. It is located on the Bay of Kotor (Boka Kotorska), one of the most indented parts of the Adriatic Sea.

Kotor has one of the best preserved medieval old towns in the Adriatic and is a UNESCO world heritage site. It is home to numerous sights, such as the Cathedral of Saint Tryphon in the old town and the ancient walls which stretch for 4.5 km directly above the city. Sveti Đorđe and Gospa od Škrpijela islets off the coast of Perast are also among the more popular destinations in the vicinity of Kotor.

Tivat

Tivat is a coastal town in southwest Montenegro, located in the Bay of Kotor. Although it is the youngest town in the Boka region, Tivat has a lot of interesting and attractive destinations. Renaissance Summer House Buca in the centre of city, Ostrvo Cvijeca (flowers’ island) with sacred monuments, Gornja Lastva, the old nucleus at an altitude of 300 m, the magnificent beach at Plavi Horizonti and the island Sv. Nikola are tourist destinations that should be visited in Tivat. In the city it self there is the natural marina Kaliman.

    • Porto Montenegro
    • Porto Montenegro is a luxury yacht marina and adjacent waterfront development under construction in Tivat. It will feature 630 berths for yachts, including the largest superyachts, and will provide the highest level of service and amenities for vessels of all sizes..
    • In addition, the development will create a vibrant coastal community of waterfront residences, hotels and restaurants, shopping, water sports and leisure facilities. Porto Montenegro lies within one of the world’s most idyllic nautical playgrounds: the Bay of Kotor. A UNESCO World Heritage site, the Bay of Kotor is Europe’s southernmost fjord and the largest natural harbour in the eastern Mediterranean.

Herceg Novi

Herceg Novi is well known as a spa and health center; nearby Igalo has an abundance of healing sea mud called “igaljsko blato” (Igalo mud) and mineral water springs called “igaljske slatine” (Igalo water springs). The most famous tourist attractions in Herceg Novi are castle Forte Mare built by the Bosnian king Tvrtko I in 1382, a clock tower built by Austrians in the 19th century, the Kanli tower built by Turks, and the Serbian church St. Michael Archangel in central Belavista Square.

Budva

Budva is on the central part of Montenegrin coast, called “Budvanska Rivijera”. It has developed around a small peninsula, on which the old town is situated. Budva riviera, is the center of Montenegrin tourism, known for its well preserved medieval walled city, sandy beaches and diverse nightlife.

    • Sveti Stefan
    • Sveti Stefan is a small islet and 5-star hotel resort on the Adriatic coast of Montenegro, approximately 6 kilometres southeast of Budva.
    • Sveti Stefan is an unusual and unique place not only at Montenegro or Budva’s Riviera but in the whole Mediterranean. It stands on the cliff of a rocky island with roofs red like rubies. A sand isthmus looking like a stem connects it with the land.

Bar

Bar is a modern city, located on the Montenegrin coast, known for its beautiful climate and nature, olive groves and historical monuments, excellent restaurants and beautiful beaches.

There are several attractions: Old Town of Bar, Haj-Nehaj Fortress, King Nikola Castle and over 2000 years Old Olive Trees are just couple of them.

Ulcinj

It is most famous for its sandy beaches, which are considered the most beautiful in Montenegro. The most valuable resource of the Ulcinj riviera is Velika plaza. Ulcinj’s old town is a well-preserved castle-looking community that is left over from medieval times. The old town sits atop a mountain overlooking the shore and is a tourist attraction on its own.

Ada Bojana, an island in the Ulcinj Municipality, is popular for its peace and unique atmosphere. Also, a large naturist campsite is located in Ada Bojana.
